BHP has awarded its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement for five LNG-fuelled Newcastlemax bulk carriers, which will transport iron ore between Western Australia and China from 2022.
Shell has secured the contract to fuel the vessels, which BHP will charter from Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) for five-year terms.

Melbana awarded new exploration permits near existing prospect
ASX-listed independent oil and gas company, Melbana Energy Limited, has been awarded two additional petroleum exploration permits offshore of northern Australia on a 100 per cent basis.
Application was made for the permit areas under the Australian Government’s 2019 Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release. The location of the permits, designated as WA-544-P and NT/P87, are highlighted in Figure 1. APA forms interconnected WA gas grid with new pipeline
APA Group has announced investment of up to $460 million to construct a new 580 kilometre, 12-inch pipeline in Western Australia to connect emerging gas fields in the Perth Basin to the resource-rich Goldfields region, forming an interconnected WA Gas Grid.
The Northern Goldfields Interconnect (NGI) is expected to be operational around mid CY2022.

Santos’ Narrabri Gas Project receives environmental approval
Environmental approval has been given for Santos' Narrabri Gas Project in the Gunnedah Basin subject to a number of conditions including protecting regional biodiversity, groundwater and local communities.
On Tuesday, Minister for the Environment, Sussan Ley, approved the project under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, following her review of a robust New South Wales assessment which imposes strict conditions on clearing limits, impact mitigation and rehabilitation.

Strike provides update on West Erregulla
Strike Energy Limited has provided an update on West Erregulla on behalf of the EP469 Joint Venture.
Since the last update, Strike has performed the installation of the wellhead section for the 13-3/8” casing in preparation for drilling ahead with the second intermediate hole section.
The company advised that pressure testing of the wellhead seals was unsuccessful and upon investigation it was found that the slip and seal assembly for the 13-3/8” casing connection had failed.

Chevron receives approval to build pipeline and subsea infrastructure
Chevron Australia Pty Ltd has been given approval by NOPSEMA to construct and install a pipeline and subsea infrastructure as part of the Gorgon project.
In order to maintain gas supply at the Gorgon project, Chevron plans to expand the subsea gathering network within the existing Gorgon and Jansz–Io fields.
The project proposal includes the installation of subsea infrastructure associated with the Gorgon Stage 2 (GS2) Project in Commonwealth Waters, except for production well construction, tubing head spools, and Christmas tree installation.

Production licences offer brings Scarborough project one step closer
Woodside has been offered two production licences for the multi-billion dollar Scarborough offshore gas project, located off Western Australia’s north western Burrup Peninsula.
The Scarborough project is a key part of the company’s $52 billion Burrup Hub vision, which aims to become a global hub for production and exports of Australian liquefied natural gas (LNG).

TotalEnergies has announced the acquisition of Lewis Energy Group's 20 per cent interest in the Dorado leases operated by EOG Resources in the Eagle Ford shale gas play, enhancing its natural gas production capacity in Texas.

TotalEnergies and SINOPEC partner on sustainable aviation fuel in China
TotalEnergies and China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) have signed an agreement to jointly develop a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production unit at a SINOPEC refinery in China.
The planned unit, to be jointly owned by SINOPEC and TotalEnergies, will have the capacity to produce 230,000 tonnes of SAF per year.
It will process local waste or residues from the circular economy, such as cooking oils and animal fats.

TotalEnergies restarts production at Tyra Hub, Denmark
TotalEnergies has announced the restart of production from the Tyra hub in the Danish North Sea, following the completion of a major redevelopment project.
The hub is expected to produce 5.7 million cubic metres of gas and 22,000 barrels of condensate per day at the plateau, making Denmark self-sufficient and a net exporter of natural gas once again.
