How much does absenteeism cost your business?

Ai Group’s recently released Absenteeism & Presenteeism Survey Report 2015 estimates that absenteeism directly costs organisations approximately $578 per employee per absent day. Counting direct costs alone, the annual cost to the Australian economy is in excess of $44 billion.

Meanwhile, the costs of presenteeism (productivity losses as a result of workers attending when unwell) are in the vicinity of $35 billion – more than 40% of organisations in the survey say they are counting its cost.

In this context, it’s hard to see why attendance management is often a neglected area of business – 74% of the 2015 survey respondents recognised absenteeism as a ‘significant cost’ to their business that risked considerable competitive disadvantage, but less than half actually had a dedicated policy to manage it.

Ai Group’s Absenteeism & Presenteeism Survey Report 2015 will help your organisation reduce unscheduled absence and improve your policies and practices through a best-practice approach.

Find out how your organisation’s attendance management practices compare to your peers
