Venture Global Inc. and China Gas Holdings Ltd. have signed a new long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA), expanding their LNG partnership.
Under the terms of the deal, China Gas will purchase 0.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of American LNG from Venture Global’s Louisiana export facilities over a 20-year period beginning in 2030.
The latest contract increases China Gas’s total long-term offtake commitment with Venture Global to 2.5 MTPA across multiple 20-year agreements, supplied from the exporter’s growing Gulf Coast portfolio.
Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel welcomed the expanded commercial relationship, noting that the arrangement will help meet China’s rising energy demands through low-cost American gas supplies.
“Venture Global is pleased to expand our LNG partnership with China Gas, a leading natural gas operator in China, supplying the country’s growing energy needs with reliable, low-cost American LNG from across our Louisiana projects,” Sabel said.
Expressing similar sentiment, China Gas Chairman and President Liu Ming Hui stated that the deal reinforces the Chinese firm’s commitment to building a robust international energy trading platform.
He added that securing additional long-term global resources will directly support rising domestic energy consumption.
Venture Global has rapidly established itself as one of the largest LNG exporters in the US since commencing production at its initial facility in 2022.
The company currently maintains over 100 MTPA of capacity across operational, construction, and development phases, including flagship Louisiana projects Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG, and CP2 LNG. The exporter is also implementing carbon capture and sequestration infrastructure at its key facilities.
China Gas operates as one of China’s largest trans-regional energy suppliers, distributing piped natural gas and LPG to millions of residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
Securing reliable US exports provides the group with enhanced long-term supply security as demand across municipal and industrial gas networks continues to scale upwards.
