BP Australia expands partnership with Recharge Petroleum into South Australia

25 Jul, 2024

BP Australia has announced the expansion of its partnership with fuel distributor Recharge Petroleum into South Australia, building upon the existing bp-branded distributor network in the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The expansion aims to enhance BP’s focus on developing key sites in regional towns and communities, ensuring high-quality BP fuel is accessible to both on-road and local customers in South Australia.

Wei Chi Wong, BP Vice President Supply, Midstream and B2B Asia Pacific, welcomed the expansion, stating, “Recharge Petroleum’s exceptional performance and growth in Western Australia and the Northern Territory make it the ideal partner to enhance BP’s brand presence across regional and remote South Australia.”

Wong added that the expansion would leverage synergies between Recharge Petroleum’s established networks, creating more opportunities for customers to access BP fuel throughout these key markets.

Steve Crawford, owner of Recharge Petroleum, expressed the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and community support, saying: “Recharge Petroleum looks forward to continuing our partnership with BP, enhancing our strong service offerings to deliver quality BP fuel services to more Australians.”

This expansion follows BP’s recent announcement in May 2024 of its intention to acquire South Australian-based fuel retailer X Convenience.

Pending customary approvals, the acquisition of X Convenience will further expand BP’s network nationally, adding over 50 sites to its portfolio in South Australia.

This move aligns with BP’s global strategy to double the number of its strategic convenience sites between 2019 and 2030.

The partnership between BP and Recharge Petroleum will continue to offer traditional fuel distribution services, including bulk fuels, onsite deliveries, fuel cards, lubricants, and dispensing equipment.

Recharge Petroleum’s extensive network of depots across northern Australia, including Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs, Kununurra, Derby, Broome, Port Hedland, Newman, and Karratha, positions the company to provide comprehensive logistic capabilities and local service in the region.

As BP strengthens its presence in South Australia through these strategic moves, customers can expect improved access to BP’s premium fuel and lubricant products, supported by Recharge Petroleum’s established distribution network and customer service expertise.
