OMMICA achieves remarkable Q1 success amid global expansion

Edinburgh-based chemical analysis specialist OMMICA has reported an exceptional start to 2025, achieving 40 per cent of its anticipated annual sales by the end of March.

This milestone reflects the company’s ongoing international success and its growing reputation as a leader in chemical treatment methodologies for the energy sector.

OMMICA, with over 20 years of industry expertise, develops and distributes portable chemical analysis testing kits that enable operators to measure methanol, monoethylene glycol (MEG), and THPS levels in oil, condensate, and water.

These kits provide rapid results in under an hour, significantly reducing operational costs and wastage while optimising resources.

Each kit is meticulously manufactured in-house at the company’s research lab in Edinburgh before being distributed globally.

The firm’s Q1 achievements build on a positive trend over the past two years, marked by the expansion of its clientele to major global operators.

Recent contracts include supplying MEG and methanol testing kits to oil and gas production fields in Norway’s Continental Shelf, Western Africa, and the UK’s North Sea.

These kits have proven instrumental in maximising operational efficiency and ensuring environmental compliance.

Looking ahead to Q2, OMMICA anticipates further growth with projects slated for Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Guyana, Qatar, and Angola.

These initiatives are expected to boost the firm’s annual sales projections.

OMMICA’s portable testing kits are recognised for their accuracy — comparable to gas chromatography — and ease of use in field conditions.

By enabling on-site analysis, these kits eliminate the need for expensive and time-consuming offsite testing, offering a cost-effective solution for operators worldwide.

The technology is currently utilised in over 25 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and Oceania.

Duncan Baillie, OMMICA’s Business Development Manager, highlighted the firm’s strong position following Q1, stating: “We are currently in an exciting phase where we will shortly be getting feedback from projects that have implemented our technologies while preparing to distribute more kits globally.

“Supporting both established oil fields and emerging locations has underscored the positive role our product line plays in energy security.”

OMMICA’s success underscores its commitment to innovation and global energy security, positioning it as a vital partner for energy operators worldwide.
