Propelling Fugro’s asset inspection solutions forward with UAV technology

13 Dec, 2023

Fugro’s proven expertise lies in acquiring, analysing, and presenting physical data for sites and assets; we transform geo-data into actionable insights.

Uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, are remotely piloted aircraft equipped to carry sensors or other equipment for a variety of applications. As Fugro’s operations increasingly move towards remote and autonomous solutions, UAV technology is expanding our remote operations capability market offering.

Fugro operates a fleet of modern UAVs with state-of-the-art multi-sensor options which allow rapid deployment to site. Fast capture of multiple data types, supports data-driven asset management, offering cost efficient asset monitoring for better performance over a longer lifetime.

Cutting edge UAV and sensor technology, the delivery of ultrahigh resolution still images, videography, photogrammetry models, and LiDAR solutions when coupled with our existing subsea and remote operations capabilities allows for the creation of complete subsea and topside asset models, enabling clients to make quick and informed decisions.

Our UAVs are highly dependable, lightweight and operated by fully compliant, licensed UAV pilots, in strict adherence to Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulations. Offering improved HSSE and reduced risks when compared with conventional working-at-height or over-the-side solutions.

UAV SOLUTIONS
From the seafloor to the flare tip, and everything in between, Fugro leverages its existing subsea capabilities in conjunction with UAVs to provide comprehensive inspection and modelling services.

Our UAVs are capable of capturing 4K ultra-high-definition imagery, thermal data, photogrammetry and LiDAR. This capability allows for high-quality deliverable production and the ability to create 3D models or digital twins for asset monitoring. These tools can assist in the early detection of damage, corrosion, or movement.

Video streaming solutions provide collaborative capabilities with clients and key stakeholders through secure live streaming video operations, accessible in any office or location with an internet connection. This can facilitate efficient guidance from clients and technical experts, enabling real-time identification and close examination of areas of concern, when responding to both routine and emergency situations. This surpasses traditional inspection methods in terms of both operational speed and data transfer efficiency.

WHY FUGRO?
Our purpose at Fugro is to work together to create a safe and liveable world. Our work is bigger than individual projects. That’s what we believe. We aim to contribute to a world where nature is protected and people can thrive.

Our UAV solutions strive towards this purpose by delivering higher quality data, with a lower health, safety and environmental risk profile than traditional methods. Real time access to data from the field enables our clients to make timely decisions which improve schedules, production efficiencies and reduce risk.

Fugro stands at the forefront of the shift towards remote and autonomous operations, boasting a worldwide presence with 10 remote operation centres (ROCs). Through these ROCs, Fugro manages UAVs, uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), delivering survey and inspection services to industries worldwide.

Because the world is changing faster than ever before, Fugro continues to expand its capabilities in the UAV sector, offering clients the latest technology available. Using state-of-the-art aerial surveying and data capture technology, combined with Fugro’s remote operations infrastructure and expertise, creates the ideal habitat to progress Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLoS) operations in Australia, allowing for long range aerial remote data capture missions.

At Fugro, we always keep the bigger picture in mind. We don’t just help you realise and operate your projects safely and efficiently, but sustainably too.
