Sentinel Subsea has secured a double shortlisting at the 2026 Subsea Expo Awards, underscoring its emergence as a key player in subsea integrity monitoring and low-carbon offshore operations.
The Aberdeen-headquartered company has been named a finalist in both the Global Development Award and the Technology Development Award at Europe’s largest subsea exhibition and conference, to be held at P&J Live in Aberdeen on 4 February 2026.
The dual nominations recognise Sentinel Subsea’s rapid international growth and its contribution to safer, lower-emission monitoring of subsea oil and gas infrastructure.
The 2026 Subsea Expo Awards bring together operators, service companies and technology developers from across the underwater sector to highlight advances that improve safety, cut costs and reduce environmental impact.
By being shortlisted for both a technology-focused and a global development category, Sentinel Subsea is being recognised not only for innovation but also for successful commercial deployment in multiple offshore basins.

Neil Gordon, CEO of Sentinel Subsea said: “These nominations reflect the dedication of our team, the strength of our technology, and the trust our customers place in us around the world.
“Our mission is to deliver safer, cleaner, and more sustainable monitoring solutions, and this recognition reinforces the real-world impact we are achieving.”
The company has previously been highlighted in industry media for innovation in subsea leak detection and integrity monitoring, adding further weight to its latest award nominations.
At the heart of Sentinel Subsea’s success is its flagship WellSentinel technology, which has redefined subsea integrity management by providing continuous, passive monitoring of wells and subsea assets without the need for subsea power or permanent data connections.
The system uses engineered triggers to detect unplanned emissions and then mechanically releases a coded beacon to the surface, where alerts are transmitted via satellite to operators for rapid response.
Independent assessments have indicated that each WellSentinel system can save up to 400 tonnes of CO₂ over a 10-year period by reducing the reliance on emissions-intensive vessel-based inspection campaigns.
By replacing traditional, fuel-intensive inspection regimes with long-term, autonomous monitoring, WellSentinel helps operators cut diesel consumption by up to 60 per cent, translating into thousands of tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions each year across a multi-field portfolio.
The technology is designed for long-term deployment, with configurations suitable for plug and abandonment (P&A), late-life fields and producing assets, supporting operators as they navigate tightening regulatory requirements and net-zero commitments.
Sentinel Subsea’s shortlistings also reflect the company’s growing international footprint and export strategy.
WellSentinel systems have been deployed or trialled in major offshore regions including the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, the United States and Azerbaijan, working alongside operators and service partners as part of decommissioning programmes and integrity campaigns.
This global reach aligns with the scope of the Global Development Award, which recognises companies translating technical innovation into demonstrable impact across multiple markets.
The adaptability of WellSentinel across both ultra-deepwater and shallow-water environments demonstrates a focus on flexible, customer-led solutions that support the wider energy transition.
By enabling earlier detection of leaks and providing continuous surveillance of subsea assets, the technology helps reduce environmental risk while simplifying operations and lowering operational expenditure for operators under pressure to decarbonise.
Sentinel Subsea has stated that it congratulates all fellow finalists and looks forward to celebrating the collective achievements of the subsea industry when the winners are announced at the ceremony on 4 February 2026 in Aberdeen.
