Shell Lubricants unveils advanced motorcycle oil at MotoGP Thailand 2025

12 Mar, 2025
Shell announces strong Q1 results and $3.5b share buyback program

Shell Lubricants has launched its latest innovation in motorcycle and scooter oils at the 2025 MotoGP in Thailand.

The newly upgraded full-synthetic lubricant, Shell Advance Ultra with API SP, represents the pinnacle of Shell’s motorcycle oil technology and is endorsed by Ducati Corse.

The new formulation boasts impressive performance metrics, retaining horsepower for up to 20,000 km and providing riders with a significant advantage in acceleration.

Shell Advance Ultra enables riders to gain up to 11.5 metres when accelerating from 0-100 km/h, while also offering improved fuel economy of up to five kilometres per litre of fuel.

Additionally, the oil demonstrates superior engine protection with up to 79 per cent less evaporation, contributing to extended engine life.

Shell’s commitment to innovation extends beyond the Ultra line, with the API SP specification now available across their entire range of motorcycle oils, including Shell Advance Power, FuelSave, Long Ride, City, City Scooter, and FuelSave Scooter.

These products are uniquely crafted using Shell’s PurePlus Technology, which produces 99.5 per cent pure base oil from natural gas, setting a new standard in the industry.

Coinciding with the product launch, Shell unveiled its new global brand campaign, “It’s not just oil, it’s crazy good oil”. The campaign, featuring Ducati Corse riders, celebrates over 25 years of technical partnership between Shell and Ducati.

This collaboration has yielded significant results, with Ducati’s MotoGP team achieving record-breaking success in the 2024 season, including 13 race wins and five consecutive Constructor Championships.

Jason Wong, Global Executive Vice President of Shell Lubricants, highlighted the growing demand for premium lubricants in the two-wheeler market.

“As the number one lubricants supplier for the past 18 years, Shell continues to push the boundaries to excel and deliver quality solutions to customers,” Wong stated.

Mauro Grassilli, Ducati Corse Sporting Director, expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing partnership, noting the team’s exceptional performance in the previous season and looking forward to further success in 2025.

Shell Advance Ultra with API SP meets the latest JASO MA2 and MB specifications for motorcycles and scooters.

Following its initial launch in China in December 2023, the product will be rolled out globally in the coming months.

The new Shell Advance Ride On campaign is set to launch in markets worldwide from April 2025.

This launch at the MotoGP event underscores Shell’s commitment to driving innovation in motorcycle oils, leveraging its longstanding partnership with Ducati to deliver high-performance lubricants that meet the evolving needs of riders around the world.
