Titomic joins DNV program to standardise additive manufacturing in oil and gas industry

Titomic Limited (ASX: TTT), a major provider of cold spray solutions, has been invited to participate in DNV’s flagship joint Industry Project (JIP) – ProGRAM.

This research and development initiative aims to develop and standardise additive manufacturing technologies for the oil and gas industry.

The program represents a significant opportunity for Titomic to accelerate the commercialisation of its cold spray technology within the oil and gas sector, an industry that has long grappled with challenges such as corrosion, wear, and part failure.

As part of this collaboration, Titomic will work alongside DNV to establish new standards for the use of cold spray technology in manufacturing parts and repairing equipment for the oil and gas industry.

The program will focus on streamlining specifications for common and specific part cases and materials, with the goal of enabling broader adoption of additive manufacturing in the sector.

Initially, the program will concentrate on setting qualification standards for manufacturing structural and machine parts using Alloy 625, as well as subsea parts in low-alloy carbon steel.

Additionally, it will address standards for cold spray repair techniques.

DNV, a world-renowned classification society and advisor for the energy and maritime industries, brings its expertise in testing, certification, and technical advisory services to the program.

Their involvement underscores the significance of this standardisation effort for the industry.

Titomic’s participation in this program is expected to significantly increase the visibility of cold spray technology within the oil and gas industry.

It also positions the company as a leader in providing innovative and efficient solutions for repair, coating, and additive manufacturing in industries facing long-standing challenges.

By contributing to the development of these standards, Titomic aims to help the industry transition to more efficient and sustainable production methods.

This collaboration has the potential to overcome key barriers to the broader adoption of additive manufacturing in the oil and gas sector, paving the way for more sustainable and effective manufacturing practices.
