In a strategic move to address a critical industry challenge, UK-based Vulcan Completion Products has entered into a partnership with Sudelac Limited through an exclusive IP licence agreement.
The collaboration will see Vulcan offering advanced pressure and load testing for float equipment via Sudelac’s patented FloatCHECKER PT system, setting a new benchmark for quality assurance within the oil and gas sector.
Float equipment, essential for well completion and intervention operations, has historically lacked rigorous post-manufacture testing under existing industry standards.
The current API guidelines do not mandate such checks, potentially allowing untested components to enter field operations.
This gap raises significant safety and reliability concerns, particularly as operators increasingly source equipment from a range of suppliers, some of which may compromise on quality to reduce costs.
Vulcan’s newly launched Float Equipment Assurance service, powered by the FloatCHECKER PT technology, ensures that every float tool — whether newly manufactured or sourced from third-party inventories — undergoes comprehensive testing before deployment.
The system rigorously evaluates pressure and load tolerances, identifying defects or weaknesses that could lead to failures or compromised well integrity.
Since 2023, Vulcan Completion Products has experienced significant growth, expanding its global workforce by 50 per cent to over 40 employees across key operational regions.
Headquartered in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, the company continues to lead the way in float equipment innovation, supported by an ISO 9001-accredited R&D hub and a team with more than 200 years of combined industry expertise.
This partnership not only strengthens Vulcan’s commitment to safety and reliability but also reinforces its reputation as a trusted provider of advanced completion solutions.
As the industry faces increasing pressure to improve well integrity and operational efficiency, Vulcan’s collaboration with Sudelac marks a decisive step forward in raising the bar for float equipment standards worldwide.
