Woodside Energy, one of Australia’s leading oil and gas producers, has unveiled a significant leadership restructure aimed at propelling the company through the next phase of its energy transition strategy.
The revised structure, set to take effect on August 1, 2024, streamlines the company’s operating model by consolidating and elevating core business activities.
Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill emphasised that these changes represent an evolution of the operating model established following Woodside’s merger with BHP‘s petroleum business.
The restructure is designed to support the safe, reliable, and cost-efficient execution of base business while positioning the company for future growth and value creation.
“We are fully integrating Woodside’s traditional and new energy business across our value chain to support ongoing delivery of the affordable, reliable and lower-carbon energy our customers need for the energy transition,” O’Neill stated.
The revised leadership structure includes several notable changes:

- Integration of all traditional and new energy growth activities under a new EVP & Chief Commercial Officer role.
- Consolidation of technical and project development activities under a new EVP Technical & Energy Development role.
- Elevation of corporate strategy activities to a single EVP role.
- Establishment of dedicated Executive Leadership Team (ELT) roles for Human Resources, Legal & Group General Counsel, and External Affairs.
Effective August 1, 2024, Woodside’s new Executive Leadership Team will comprise:
- Graham Tiver as EVP & Chief Financial Officer
- Liz Westcott as EVP & Chief Operating Officer Australia
- Daniel Kalms as EVP & Chief Operating Officer International
- Mark Abbotsford as EVP & Chief Commercial Officer
- Julie Fallon as EVP of Technical & Energy Development
- Andy Drummond as EVP Strategy
- Tony Cudmore as EVP of External Affairs
- Ruth Lyall as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Human Resources
- Rebecca McNicol as SVP Legal & Group General Counsel
O’Neill expressed gratitude to departing ELT members Shiva McMahon and Matthew Ridolfi for their leadership during a transformational period for the company.
She also acknowledged Shaun Gregory’s contributions in leading Woodside’s new energy business, noting that he will continue as Adviser to the CEO.
The CEO welcomed Ruth Lyall and Rebecca McNicol as new members of the executive team, citing their strong capabilities, experience, and fresh perspectives as valuable additions to Woodside’s leadership.
This restructure underscores Woodside’s commitment to adapting its organisational structure to meet the evolving demands of the energy sector and to position itself as a key player in the global energy transition.
