ESP SAFETY
ESP is renowned for its acoustic fire and gas detection products, helping customers protect people and assets the world over. Tried, tested, and certified, ESP Safety explosion-proof detectors are certified to meet the most demanding performance standards in the industry, including FM, ATEX, IECEx, GOST, and ABS. The detectors are widely used in hazardous locations that demand high performance, reliability, and continuous integrity levels, hence the achievement of SIL3 a true indicator of product data reliability and highlighting the fundamental strong foundations ESP comes from.
ESP ASSET INTEGRITY
After many years of engaging with their existing oil and gas customers, ESP was approached to adapt the acoustic technologies utilised in the fire and gas range and help support the customer with an alternative option in a very monopolised market to solve their asset integrity sand and particle production issues. The requests became so regular ESP put a plan in place to create a new division focusing solely on asset integrity, saving lives, and enhancing production.
QUALITY, RELIABILITY, AND THE BIRTH OF ECHO
Quality and reliability of data have been the cornerstone of ESP’s products from day one, there is no corner-cutting when it comes to protecting lives. As such, ESP AI set about creating its very own Acoustic Sand Monitor – Echo. Reliable data, no false alarms, the Echo sensor uses digital signal processing algorithms with advanced filtering techniques and enhanced acoustic sensitivity sensors to provide real-time reliable data to the operator. And Echo was born.
ECHO APPLICATION
More than half of all existing wells are estimated to require sand control or sand management throughout their lifetime. High-velocity or turbulent fluid flow generates large drag forces, dislodging unconsolidated sand particles. The free-flowing particles can erode downhole and surface equipment, including
well-control barriers. When wells sand up, productivity declines and disposal of produced sand is a significant cost associated with operation. Remedial procedures require hours of rig time.
In a worst-case scenario, this can lead to dangerous uncontrolled production and well abandonment. The efficiency of oil and gas wells improved by 300 per cent on the sites where Echo has been installed.
INTRODUCTION TO SUBSEA
The transition to marinise the Echo sensor was only a matter of time, as existing customers asked, so ESP provided. Customers from around the globe have now had the subsea ECHO-UW system supplied, installed, and working well. Retrofitting and permanent install assemblies, data communication protocols via SIIS Level 2
or SIIS Level 3, single and dual redundancy units, funnel designs to suit existing and previous failed installed systems, a completely adaptable solution for subsea with a track record.
WHAT WAS NEXT….
ESP was not about to sit still with this momentum, shortly after the ECHO-UW was born ESP quickly investigated other solutions customers were having trouble with. This led to the introduction of the ECHO-EC and the ECHO-DSES product line for topside and subsea environments. The ECHO-EC is an erosion/corrosion wall thickness monitoring sensor system, and the ECHO-DSES is a reliable PIG detector utilising three measuring channels.
NOW WHAT…
Now it’s all about focus. ESP is committed to this new product division and dedicated to constant improvement. Yes, ESP are relatively new in this environment, and it has been a very steep learning curve but its adaptability and willingness to work with customers and partners alike are making ESP very attractive to work with. ESP will be working on technical upgrades, collaborations, process improvements, and other business advances.
ESP are primed and looking forward to working with existing and new customers in the future.
