FEED contract awarded for APLNG’s Angry Jungle gas project in Queensland

Worley secures FEED contract for APLNG's Angry Jungle gas project in Queensland

AUSTRALIA: Worley has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for a new natural gas compression facility in Queensland, Australia.

The project, commissioned by Origin Energy as the Upstream Operator of Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), aims to capitalise on APLNG’s share of coal seam gas production from the Angry Jungle gas field in the Surat Basin.

The Angry Jungle gas field is a joint venture operated by multiple producers.

Worley‘s scope of work includes engineering design for the infrastructure required to extract and process APLNG’s portion of the gas.

The project encompasses an in-field compression facility, a low-pressure gathering pipeline, and ancillary services, with Worley’s initial focus on the booster compression facility.

This FEED contract follows Worley’s successful completion of concept and pre-FEED studies through its consulting arm.

These preliminary studies helped APLNG identify and select the most suitable infrastructure options for their specific needs.

Mark Accadia, Worley Location Director for Australia East, PNG, and Mongolia, commented on the project: “We’re helping APLNG access its share of Angry Jungle gas production in an efficient and timely manner.

“Our team has been adding value by assessing different sustainable options that enhance production while reducing capex and opex to maximise economic return, and we look forward to continuing our support through this next phase.”

The FEED contract award highlights the ongoing development of coal seam gas resources in Queensland, which play a significant role in the country’s energy mix and export market.
