AUSTRALIA — Strike Energy Limited (ASX: STX) has initiated flow testing at the Erregulla Deep-1 (ED1) discovery well in exploration permit EP469, marking a significant milestone for the West Erregulla gas field development.
ED1, the deepest onshore well ever drilled in Australia, has already demonstrated promising results during the clean-up phase, with high-pressure conventional gas flows observed from the Kingia Sandstone formation.
The top of this formation was encountered at a depth of 4,778 metres TVDSS (True Vertical Depth Subsea).
The flow testing program is expected to last up to four weeks and will include:
- Continued testing of the Kingia Sandstone
- Evaluation of the High Cliff Sandstone gas discovery
Strike Energy cautioned that while initial observations are positive, they are preliminary in nature.
The company will release the final results upon completion of the full-flow test program.
The ED1 well targets an interpreted structural closure adjacent to and east of the existing West Erregulla gas field reserves.
It aligns with the Lockyer and North Erregulla gas discoveries.
The well is located at:
- Latitude: 29° 22′ 19.91″ S
- Longitude: 115° 24′ 17.66″ E
The EP469 Joint Venture comprises:
- Strike Energy (Operator): 50 per cent
- Warrego Energy 469 Pty Ltd: 50 per cent
This development represents a significant step forward for Strike Energy and its partners in their efforts to expand gas production in the Perth Basin.
The success of the Erregulla Deep-1 well could potentially add to the overall developable resource in EP469/L25, which already includes the West Erregulla gas field’s independently estimated gross 452 PJ of 2P reserves plus 2C contingent resources.
