Tamboran Resources Corporation has successfully completed a stimulation campaign on its Shenandoah South 2H sidetrack (SS-2H ST1) well in Australia’s Beetaloo Basin, setting new performance records for the region.
The company stimulated 35 stages across a 1,671-metre)horizontal section in the Mid Velkerri B Shale, utilising Liberty Energy’s modern stimulation equipment.
This operation achieved unprecedented efficiency, completing five stages over a 24-hour period on multiple days, surpassing previous Beetaloo Basin records.
A key highlight of the campaign was the average proppant intensity of 2,706 pounds per foot across the 35 completed stages, which exceeded all previous completion activities in the Beetaloo Basin.
The operation also achieved wellhead injection rates above 100 barrels per minute, further demonstrating the advanced capabilities of the equipment used.
Joel Riddle, Managing Director and CEO of Tamboran Resources, commented on the success: “The increased efficiency from the Liberty stimulation equipment has delivered Beetaloo Basin completion records for average proppant injection intensity and treating rates over 100 bpm.”
During the operation, the company optimised the stimulation design by increasing the spacing between stages to approximately 50 metres, resulting in improved efficiency.
This decision showcases Tamboran’s adaptive approach to maximising well performance.
The next steps for the SS-2H ST1 well include clean-out activities, followed by the commencement of initial flow back and extended production testing.
These results will be crucial in assessing the well’s productivity and the overall potential of the Beetaloo Basin.
This successful stimulation campaign marks a significant milestone in Tamboran‘s Beetaloo Basin exploration program and sets a new standard for unconventional gas development in Australia.
The company plans to provide further updates on the completion of the Shenandoah South 3H (SS-3H) well in due course.
