TMK Energy Ltd. has reached another production milestone at its Gurvantes XXXV Pilot Well project in Mongolia, with gas production rates surging to new field highs.
Average daily gas production at the pilot project increased by 11 per cent over August’s daily average, crossing 900 cubic metres per day, approximately 32,000 standard cubic feet per day) over the past week.
Multiple individual wells, including LF-02, LF-05, and LF-06, are now producing at record levels, indicating widespread gas desorption across the field beyond the initial LF-07 well.
The sustained month-on-month flow increases provide a strong indication that the pilot project is closing in on the minimum commercial flow rates required to support a full-scale field development.
TMK Energy CEO Dougal Ferguson said the production growth reinforces the project’s commercial potential as the company prepares to launch its 2026 drilling and re-completion program.
“With yet another material, but sustained bump in gas production rates at the Pilot Well Project over the last week, our confidence in the commercial potential of the enormous Gurvantes XXXV Coal Seam Gas (CSG) Project continues to grow,” Ferguson said.
“We have the clear objective of being the largest CSG producer in Mongolia by the end of this calendar year, which together with having the largest 2C contingent resource in Mongolia, puts TMK in an enviable and dominant position.”
Senior management personnel are currently in Mongolia to advance discussions with regulatory authorities regarding the conversion of the project’s substantial 2C contingent resources into formal reserves, paving the way for an ultimate exploitation licence.
Key objectives for TMK during the remainder of 2026 include executing its current work program, implementing a gas-to-power project at the pilot site, and laying the groundwork for an expanded appraisal drilling campaign in 2027.
“These are all significant value-adding milestones and important steps for the company as we progress towards an expanded appraisal drilling program in 2027and broader field development.
“Continuing to grow and utilise our ever-increasing gas production remains a key objective and forms the foundation for any future development.”
