TMK Energy Ltd. has reported a steady rise in daily gas production at its Gurvantes XXXV Pilot Well Project in Mongolia, with rates nearing a key milestone ahead of an upcoming operational push.
Average daily gas production reached 778 cubic metres, approximately 27,500 standard cubic feet per day in July, marking a 5 per cent increase over June’s average of 742 cubic metres per day.
The gain was achieved despite pump maintenance on one well and temporary power interruptions. Production has continued its upward trajectory into August, averaging over 800 cubic metres daily as the field nears the milestone rate of 850 cubic metres per day.
The company has secured all long-lead equipment items for its 2026 Work Program. Sourced primarily from China, the supplies will support a campaign focused on wellbore re-completions and new drilling, starting with the LF-08 production well, to optimise field output.
The operational execution will be overseen by newly appointed COO Steve Skinner, a seasoned petroleum engineer who joined the executive team in late July.
“During July, we secured the services of Mr. Steve Skinner as Chief Operating Officer. Steve has hit the ground running and is now putting together the finishing touches of the 2026 Work Program,” TMK CEO Dougal Ferguson said.
“Work continued on our Gas to Power Project (GPP) during July… The GPP is expected to be operational prior to the end of this year, which will be a significant achievement by both the teams involved, and will demonstrate the benefit of the use of gas in power generation for remote mining projects in Mongolia.”
In tandem with drilling preparations, TMK and commercial partner Dashvaanjil Group recently completed a joint site visit to finalise engineering for the planned Gas to Power Project.
Pending a final investment decision in October, the power initiative remains on track to be operational by December.
