Santos’s $5.8 billion Barossa gas pipeline project proceeds after court win

The Australian Federal Court has ruled in favour of Santos in the case of Munkara v Santos NA Barossa Pty Ltd — dismissing the application and discharging the injunction that prevented pipelay activities south of the kilometre 86 (KP86) point along the Barossa Gas Export Pipeline. As per the ruling and in accordance with the project’s Environmental Plan, Santos will continue its pipelaying activity for the Barossa Gas Project. A syndicate of sophisticated investors has agreed to inject $3.5 million into Pilot Energy (ASX:PGY) to progress the company’s flagship Mid West Clean Energy Project (MWCEP) in Western Australia. Galilee Energy has welcomed the Central West Queensland Remote Area Planning and Development (RAPAD) and VisIR partnership which will progress the proposed 930-kilometre electricity transmission line from Hughenden to Bileola. Santos delays FID for Narrabri gas project until 2025

Santos has announced in its latest ASX investor update that a final investment decision (FID) on its Narrabri gas project will not take place until 2025. This comes after the Australian federal government recently announced it will reassess the company’s Hunter Gas Pipeline under Commonwealth environmental laws. The project decision will remain open until 8 December 2023. Melbana Energy Limited has confirmed that the Alameda-1 exploration well spudded (commenced drilling) on Monday 13 September 2021. The Alameda Prospect (formerly I Lead) is an exploration target in the Block 9 Production Sharing Contract (PSC) which covers 2,380 square kilometres onshore on the north coast of Cuba. Neptune Energy has announced the start of the first Walk to Work (W2W) campaign at the Cygnus gas field in the UK Southern North Sea. A programme of brownfield modifications, maintenance and inspection activities will be supported by Bibby Marine’s WaveMaster 1 vessel, reducing time, costs and environmental impacts. BP Singapore Pte. Limited has successfully delivered a ‎carbon offset liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to CPC Corporation, Taiwan. The LNG cargo arrived at the Yung An terminal in Taiwan in September. This is bp’s first delivery of carbon offset LNG in the Asia-Pacific region, following its ‎first delivery globally to Sempra LNG at the Energia Costa Azul terminal in Mexico in ‎July 2021. Shell identifies damage to offshore facility from Hurricane Ida

During an initial flyover of its assets in the afermath of Hurricane Ida, Shell Offshore Inc., a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc, observed damage to its West Delta-143 (WD-143) offshore facilities. Shell did not observe any visible structural damage to the rest of its offshore assets. When it is safe to do so, the company will send personnel offshore to provide a closer inspection of these facilities to understand the full extent of the damage and the degree to which the production in the Gulf of Mexico will likely be impacted. Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB), a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc, has taken a final investment decision (FID) on the Timi gas development project, situated approximately 200 kilometres off the coast of Sarawak, in Malaysia. The Timi development features SSB’s first wellhead platform (WHP) in Malaysia that is powered by a solar and wind hybrid renewable power system. Equinor’s Troll phase 3 project starts up in Norway

On 27 August, production started from Equinor’s Troll phase 3 project in the Norwegian North Sea. The project has a break-even price below $10 and CO2 emissions of less than 0.1 kg per barrel oil equivalent. The new wells are tied in to the Troll A platform and Troll phase 3 will extend the platform’s life past 2050.  Recoverable volumes from Troll phase 3, which will produce the Troll West gas cap, are estimated at as much as 347 billion cubic metres of gas.
