Lightsource bp today announced that through a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Snowy Hydro, its West Wyalong solar farm will supply renewable energy to 88 of bp’s service stations across New South Wales.
Snowy Hydro owns, operates and maintains the Snowy Scheme as well as Red Energy and Lumo Energy, making it the fourth-largest energy retailer in Australia with almost one million electricity and gas customers across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.
The PPA will enable the construction of a 107MWdc solar farm in West Wyalong.

CleanCo and Senex sign new gas sales agreement
Queensland Government-owned electricity generation and trading company, CleanCo, has secured a new deal with Senex Energy Limited for the supply of gas to the Swanbank E gas-fired power station in 2022.
The one-year agreement will see 2.55 petajoules (PJ) of natural gas supplied from Senex’s Atlas operation, 20 kilometres south-west of Wandoan, to CleanCo’s highly efficient 385 megawatt (MW) Swanbank E gas-fired power station via the Roma-Brisbane pipeline.

Pilot project to unlock Australia’s first hydrogen-ready pipeline
APA Group has announced a landmark hydrogen pilot project to enable the proposed conversion of 43-kilometres of Parmelia Gas Pipeline in Western Australia into Australia’s first 100 per cent hydrogen-ready transmission pipeline.
The pilot project is APA’s first project under its Pathfinder Program – a new initiative that will help unlock energy solutions of the future – and would make the Parmelia Gas Pipeline one of only a few existing gas transmission pipelines in the world, 100 per cent hydrogen-ready.

CNOOC Limited announces large discovery in Bohai Bay
CNOOC Limited, one of China’s largest producers of offshore crude oil and natural gas, has announced that it has made a large-sized oil and gas discovery at Bozhong 13-2 in Bohai Bay.
The Bozhong 13-2 structure is located in the south-western Ring of Bozhong Sag in the Bohai Bay (one of the three major bays of the Bohai Sea, the northwestern and innermost gulf of the Yellow Sea) with an average water depth of about 23.2 metres.
The discovery well BZ13-2-2 was drilled and completed at a depth of 5,223 metres, and encountered oil pay zones with a total thickness of approximately 346 metres.

Senex reaches nameplate production at Surat Basin facility
Senex Energy Limited has reached nameplate production of 32 terajoules (TJ) per day (approximately 12 petajoules per year) at its Atlas natural gas processing facility in the Surat Basin.
Production at the firm nameplate capacity was achieved ahead of schedule and continues to increase. Further non-firm capacity of 8 TJ/day (roughly 3 PJ/year) is also available at the Atlas facility.
Senex announced last month that its total Surat Basin production had reached 50 TJ/day (more than 18 PJ/year), an increase of 16 per cent from the previous quarter.

Drilling and well testing confirm resource size of Enterprise field
Beach Energy Limited has today confirmed reserves in relation to the Enterprise gas field, located in exploration permit VIC/P42(V) (Beach: 60 per cent and operator, O.G. Energy: 40 per cent) in the nearshore Victorian Otway Basin.
The discovery has led to a 2P (proved and probable) reserves booking for the Enterprise gas field in which Beach has booked net 2P undeveloped reserves of 21 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) (34 MMboe gross [1]), as at 15 February 2021.

Oil producer receives notice in relation to BP Kwinana Refinery
Perth Basin oil producer, Triangle Energy (Global) Limited, has received a notice of variation of the termination date from BP under the Crude Oil Supply Agreement, in relation to the Kwinana oil refinery in Western Australia. According to the notice, the termination effective date has been extended from 16 February 2021 to 1 March 2021.

TotalEnergies restarts production at Tyra Hub, Denmark
TotalEnergies has announced the restart of production from the Tyra hub in the Danish North Sea, following the completion of a major redevelopment project.
The hub is expected to produce 5.7 million cubic metres of gas and 22,000 barrels of condensate per day at the plateau, making Denmark self-sufficient and a net exporter of natural gas once again.

Woodside completes 10 per cent sale to LNG Japan
Woodside has finalised the sale of a 10 per cent non-operating participating interest in the Scarborough Joint Venture to LJ Scarborough Pty Ltd (LNG Japan).
This sale — which was part of Woodside’s strategic relationship with LNG Japan, announced on 8 August 2023 — includes equity in the Scarborough Joint Venture, potential LNG offtake, and collaboration on new energy opportunities.
The sale proceeds for Woodside amount to US$910 million and comprises the purchase price, reimbursed expenditure, and escalation.

Operations begin at 88 Energy’s Hickory-1 well in Alaska
Well operations have commenced at the Hickory-1 well, with well bore preparations complete and perforation of the Upper SFS zone to begin ahead of fracking and flow testing.
The Hickory-1 well is located within 88 Energy’s Project Phoenix acreage, directly adjacent to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and the Dalton Highway.
After the Upper SFS zone is tested, the company plans to test the SMD-B zone.
Each zone will be independently isolated, stimulated and flowed to the surface using a nitrogen lift to assist in the efficient cleanup of the well.

TotalEnergies expands its presence in the Orange Basin
TotalEnergies has signed, together with its partner QatarEnergy, an agreement to acquire participating interests in Block 3B/4B, offshore South Africa, from Africa Oil South Africa, Azinam (a wholly owned subsidiary of Eco Atlantic Oil and Gas) and Ricocure.
Following completion of the transaction, TotalEnergies will hold a 33 per cent participating interest in Block 3B/4B and assume operatorship, while QatarEnergy will hold a 24 per cent interest.

Conrad Asia to enhance Indonesian gas supply and infrastructure development
Asia-focused natural gas exploration and production company — Conrad Asia Energy — has announced a strategic partnership with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) — the gas subsidiary of Indonesia's national oil company, PT Pertamina (Persero).
