Echelon Resources Limited (ASX: ECH) has announced the completion of its acquisition of a 100 per cent interest and operatorship in the onshore Exploration Permit EP145, located in the Amadeus Basin, Northern Territory.
The deal, finalised with London Stock Exchange-listed Mosman Oil & Gas (AIM: MSMN), includes the formal transfer of title to Echelon.
EP145 sits adjacent to Echelon’s core producing assets — Mereenie, Palm Valley, and Dingo fields — which supply gas to a market with strong demand for new sources.
The permit area is considered a robust, infrastructure-led exploration opportunity.
Notably, two exploration wells were drilled in the early 1980s, with the West Walker-1 well discovering gas in the Pacoota Sandstone and producing three million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) on testing.
This reservoir is the primary producer at the neighbouring Mereenie Gas Field.
Echelon plans to accelerate development by deploying high-resolution 3D seismic surveys, followed by drilling to further define the discovery.
The company’s objective is to integrate this gas resource into the Northern Territory market as rapidly as possible.
“This is very exciting acreage, with a discovery on it, in a corner of the world we know well, in a market that has great ambitions that all need gas,” said Echelon Chief Executive Andrew Jefferies.
Echelon has already partnered with Fleet Space Technologies to conduct a landmark active seismic survey in 2026 using the ExoSphere platform.
This will be the largest 3D acquisition in the prolific Amadeus Basin to date.
Jefferies added: “Given the proximity to infrastructure, the supportive NT regulatory environment, and our connections to both the burgeoning East Coast and NT markets, it’s my hope that we can be cooking with EP145 gas in the coming years – Jack in Jabiru and Jess in Jerangle’s Buffalo burgers, medium rare with a fine pepper sauce.”
The acquisition strengthens Echelon’s position in the Northern Territory and underscores its commitment to meeting Australia’s growing energy needs through strategic exploration and development.
