Chevron has launched a reformulated, next-generation version of its proprietary Techron fuel additive across the US, designed to provide greater protection for engines from harmful deposits caused by lower quality fuels.
The new formulation, rolled out by Chevron U.S.A. Inc., is being introduced across all grades of fuel at Chevron- and Texaco-branded service stations. It is designed to safeguard modern engines against harmful deposits caused by lower-quality fuels, thereby supporting long-term vehicle health and efficiency.
The launch represents the latest evolution in Chevron’s fuel technology pipeline, building on decades of research and commercial application of the Techron brand.
“Fuel technology never stands still,” said Andy Walz, president, Chevron Downstream, Midstream and Chemicals.
“This new Techron formulation builds on what drivers already expect from our branded fuels – clean engines, reliable performance and confidence at the pump – while reinforcing our continued focus on science‑based innovation.”
To validate the performance claims of the upgraded additive, Chevron’s team of scientists, chemists, and engineers subjected the formulation to a rigorous validation process. This included extensive laboratory testing, dedicated engine studies, and benchmarking against rival fuel products on the market.
According to Chevron, the testing demonstrated that consistent use of fuels blended with the next-generation Techron can clean up to 100 per cent of harmful deposits left behind by substandard fuels.
This deep clean-up of gasoline direct-injection (GDI) injectors directly supports optimal engine efficiency, lowers fuel system friction, and restores lost performance.
With the rollout now complete across the US retail network, Chevron aims to reinforce its fuel-quality standards beyond baseline regulatory requirements.
Techron is a proprietary Chevron fuel additive developed through decades of research and ongoing improvement. The updated formulation reflects Chevron’s dedication to high fuel-quality standards beyond industry requirements and helps drivers feel confident in the fuel they choose.
