Marlink to provide new network solution for Transpetro’s tanker fleet

Marlink to provide new network solution for Transpetro's tanker fleet

Marlink, a major provider of business-critical ICT solutions, has secured a contract to supply its Sealink NextGen network solution to Transpetro, Brazil’s largest crude and product tanker operator.

The agreement, won through a public tender process, marks a significant step in Transpetro’s digital transformation journey.

The hybrid solution combines Marlink’s global VSAT with Starlink’s high-throughput, low-latency service, and includes MSS as a backup.

Marlink’s XChange network management platform will be installed to enable software-defined application routing, WiFi, VoIP services, and secure crew internet access.

Transpetro will monitor and manage all services through a Marlink customer portal, with corporate traffic routed to headquarters via a virtual private network.

The installation is set to begin in October, with completion expected by the first quarter of 2025.

André Pereira, Telecom and IT Project Manager at Transpetro, highlighted the importance of this upgrade, stating: “Combining Starlink LEO services for our crew with high-quality VSAT solutions provides the platform for our digital fleet strategy.”

The integration will allow Transpetro to leverage various digital tools, including collaborative workflow and voyage optimisation tools, online training resources, and remote maintenance capabilities.

This contract win aligns with Marlink’s expansion in South America, responding to the region’s strong energy market and increasing demand for managed integrated solutions.

To support this growth, Marlink is establishing a dedicated Regional Customer Support team in Brazil and adding administrative staff for finance and billing operations.

Tore Morten Olsen, President Maritime at Marlink, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: “This is an important achievement in the Marlink strategy to enable and further extend digital possibilities for merchant shipping and energy customers in South America.”

The collaboration between Marlink and Transpetro represents a significant advancement in maritime connectivity, promising to enhance operational efficiency and crew welfare for one of Brazil’s key maritime operators.
