Energy technology company OnSpec has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of industry leader Joanna Groves to lead its Australian business.
The move signals a major step in the company’s strategy to accelerate global expansion, diversify its service offering, and strengthen its presence across the energy technology sector.
Groves will oversee the company’s operational performance and delivery capabilities, ensuring OnSpec maintains its record of excellence as it scales both locally and internationally.
Known for her deep technical background and strong commercial acumen, she brings extensive leadership experience spanning multiple areas of the energy sector.
Toby Cook, OnSpec’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said the appointment reflects the company’s intent to build a robust, future-ready organisation capable of sustained growth.
“As we continue to diversify our services and expand into new markets, having the right leadership in place is essential,” said Cook.
“Jo brings a rare combination of technical depth, commercial insight, and people-first leadership.
“She understands how to build teams and operating models that are fit for today, and agile to future-proof our business for future growth.”
Under the new structure, Cook will move into an Executive Director role, focusing on strategic partnerships, client relationships, and technology development.
The transition is designed to strengthen governance and ensure OnSpec remains well-positioned to deliver on its ambitious growth goals.
Fellow Founder and Executive Director Tim Dabrowski said Groves’ appointment enhances the company’s operational maturity and supports its long-term expansion plans.
“Finding the right person to take ownership of operations and growth in Australia was critical for us,” said Dabrowski.
“Jo brings visible, trusted leadership, great industry profile and the ability to translate strategy into execution.
“This allows Toby and I to focus on growth and expansion, knowing the business is being led with discipline, care, and momentum.”
Groves said she was drawn to OnSpec’s vision and the opportunity to contribute to a sector undergoing rapid technological transformation.
“OnSpec sits at the intersection of technology and the future of energy,” said Groves.
“What attracted me was the clarity of the vision, the strong alignment of values, and the ambition to grow and diversify the business.
“I’m looking forward to applying my experience in a trusted, well-backed organisation with a clear strategy — at a moment when technology is reshaping the future of energy.”
