Celebrating innovation at the 2024 Offshore Achievement Awards

The 2024 Offshore Achievement Awards, held at the P&J Live in Aberdeen, showcased remarkable achievements in the energy industry, recognising individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions.

The event, which marked its 37th edition, featured several award categories highlighting innovation and excellence in the offshore sector.

Among the winners was Mocean Energy, recognised for its pre-commercial deployment technology.

Mocean Energy’s innovative approach in this field has paved the way for advancements in renewable energy solutions.

Another notable winner was Sentinel Subsea, which received the award for Post-commercial deployment technology.

Sentinel Subsea’s WellSentinel technology has been applauded for its role in lowering risk, reducing costs, and protecting the environment through advanced passive integrity monitoring solutions.

JFD Biomedical Engineer Dr Fraser Stewart was honoured with the Young Professional Award for his significant contributions to biomedical engineering.

Dr Stewart’s work in developing medical monitoring devices for divers and submariners has been groundbreaking, enhancing operational safety in hyperbaric environments.

Balmoral’s HexDefence was recognised with the Transformational Technology Award, highlighting its innovative solution to scour erosion and cable failure issues in the offshore fixed wind market.

Balmoral Head of Product Innovation and Research & Development Dr Aneel Gill expressed pride in HexDefence’s recognition as a ‘Transformational Technology’ within the industry.

The awards ceremony, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section, celebrated achievements in an industry undergoing significant change.

The event underscored the importance of innovation and collaboration in driving progress in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.

Sentinel Subsea CEO Neil Gordon expressed excitement and pride in receiving the award, highlighting the company’s global expansion and commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

He thanked the judging panel for recognising Sentinel Subsea’s efforts and emphasised the company’s dedication to advancing passive subsea monitoring solutions.

Fraser’s achievement was praised by Danny Gray, Operations Director at JFD, who commended his hard work and dedication.

Gray highlighted JFD’s commitment to enhancing safety for those working in subsea environments and expressed pride in Fraser’s contributions to the company’s technological advancements.

The 2024 Offshore Achievement Awards winners’ achievements underscored the sector’s commitment to sustainability and safety, setting a high standard for future advancements in offshore energy.
