Chevron appoints Laura Lane as new Chief Corporate Affairs Officer

14 Jan, 2025
Chevron

Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) has announced the appointment of Laura Lane as its new vice president and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, effective February 1, 2025.

Lane will be based in Houston and will oversee the company’s government affairs, communications, and social investment activities.

Lane succeeds Al Williams, who is set to retire in April after a 34-year tenure with the company.

Chevron’s Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth praised Lane’s diverse background, stating: “Laura’s experience in both the private and public sectors, along with her demonstrated leadership in intricate global organisations and her work across various geographic regions, makes her exceptionally qualified to guide Chevron’s global corporate affairs efforts.”

Prior to joining Chevron, Lane served as Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer at UPS.

Her career also includes senior positions at Citigroup and Time Warner, as well as government roles in the office of the U.S. Trade Representative and as a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service.

Lane’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Chevron, as the company prepares to finalise its US$53 billion acquisition of Hess Corporation later this year.

This strategic move is expected to strengthen Chevron’s position in the global energy market.

Wirth also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Al Williams for his contributions to Chevron’s success, noting his accomplished leadership across various sectors of the company.

Lane holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago.

Her diverse experience and educational background are expected to bring fresh perspectives to Chevron’s corporate affairs activities.

As one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, Chevron continues to focus on providing affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy while aiming to grow its oil and gas business, reduce the carbon intensity of its operations, and expand into lower carbon technologies.
