The Australian Resources & Energy Employer Association (AREEA) has announced the appointment of Simon Younger, President of ExxonMobil Australia, to its Board of Directors.
This strategic addition brings a wealth of experience from the oil and gas sector to the national employer group’s leadership.
Younger’s career in the energy sector spans over two decades, beginning with Esso Australia in 1997.
His journey includes diverse roles across ExxonMobil affiliates in multiple countries, showcasing his global perspective and industry knowledge.
In 2020, Younger assumed the position of Senior Vice President Upstream at Canada’s Imperial Oil Limited, a company majority-owned by ExxonMobil.
Steve Knott AM, AREEA’s Chief Executive, expressed enthusiasm about Younger’s addition to the board, stating: “Simon will provide a strong line of sight on the hydrocarbons sector and the support it needs to continue its vital role delivering safe and reliable supplies of energy.”
Knott also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing director Ulysses Yiannis, praising his expertise in human resources and labour relations management.
As of September 24, 2024, the AREEA Board comprises seven members, representing a diverse cross-section of the resources and energy industry.
The board includes executives from prominent companies such as Woodside Energy, Nagambie Resources, Compass Group Australia, Sodexo, INPEX, and Newmont Corporation.
