Chevron Australia’s innovative programs aimed at stamping out workplace bullying have taken home top honours at the Australian oil and gas industry’s prestigious Excellence Awards.
At a gala dinner, during the 2024 Australian Energy Producers Conference & Exhibition, Chevron won the coveted Chair’s Award for its ‘Be an Upstander’ and ‘Stand Up to Bullying’ training initiatives.
The ‘Stand Up To Bullying’ program uses real incidents portrayed by actors to help participants recognise and respond to inappropriate behaviours.
The ‘Be An Upstander’ initiative creates a safe space for sharing personal stories and taking action against misconduct.
“Bullying has no place in our industry, and initiatives like this show how we weed it out of workplaces,” said Samantha McCulloch, Chief Executive of Australian Energy Producers.
Safety Project Excellence Award: Chevron Australia (‘Be an Upstander’ and ‘Stand Up to Bullying’)
Environment Project Excellence Award: Senex Energy (Circular Economy Solutions in the Drilling Lifecycle)
Workforce Development Excellence Award: Santos (‘Healthier Me’ employee wellness program)
Community Development Excellence: Shell Australia (Indigenous Scholarships Program)
McCulloch congratulated all entrants, saying the winners and finalists represent “an extraordinary collection of initiatives by our member companies to support our workforce and local communities”.
The Excellence Awards, established in 2001, recognise outstanding contributions across the Australian energy sector.
