
Mikael Karlsson has been elected as a new member of the board of directors of Equinor ASA — a major Norwegian energy company.
The election took place during a meeting in the corporate assembly of Equinor ASA on 20 March 2024.
Karlsson, a partner and Vice Chairman of Actis Capital, a leading global investment firm, brings a wealth of experience to Equinor’s board.
He served as Chief Investment Officer at Actis from 2021 to 2023, and before that, he held the role of Head of Energy and Infrastructure at the firm from 2015 to 2021.
Before joining Actis, Karlsson served as CEO of Globeleq — an Actis portfolio company — from 2009 to 2015.
He also held various roles at ABB Energy Ventures.
Karlsson holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts in the USA and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Linköping Institute of Technology in Sweden.
His appointment to Equinor’s board is effective from 1 April 2024 until the next ordinary general meeting in 2025.
Karlsson’s expertise is expected to further strengthen Equinor’s board as it navigates the evolving energy landscape.
