NT export trade grants now open

03 Mar, 2021
64

The Northern Territory Government is supporting local businesses to grow their exporting capabilities with a new round of the Trade Support Scheme Quick Response Grants now available.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Territory export businesses, including travel restrictions, disruption to supply chains and changes to global markets and customer demand.

This grant program is designed to support NT businesses who are unable to travel to key international markets as part of growing their export and trade capabilities due to COVID-19.

Grants of up to $5000 are available to carry out activities and works to drive increased revenue and export activity through either export planning or digital solutions.

Funding of up to $5,000 is available to eligible recipients to carry out activities and works that drive increased revenue and export activity for Territory businesses.

There are two categories of support available, including:

  • Export Planning – businesses can engage a specialist export consultant to develop or update export strategies and plans to enter, re-engage or expand into international markets.
  • Digital Solutions – support is available to help businesses undertake key digital trade enhancements including developing/modifying e-commerce platforms and websites, foreign language translations, and participation in virtual/online events and tradeshows.

Minister for Mining and Industry, Nicole Manison, said the Territory Government acted swiftly to protect lives and jobs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen the NT reopen its businesses and economy much quicker than most parts of the world.

“In 2020, 19 Territory businesses shared in $150 000 worth of trade grant funding and due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 we have now released a second round, with $200 000 available this year,” Ms Manison said.

“The Trade Support Scheme Quick Response Grants are helping Territory businesses rebound from the impacts of COVID-19 through jobs, not cuts.”

Applications are now open and close 30 June 2021.
