Pinpointing the uses of precise positioning

08 Dec, 2020
138

Geoscience Australia is asking industry representatives from a wide range of sectors to share their experiences of using precise positioning technology.

From tractors and trains to drones, ships and constructions cranes, industry users of positioning technology are spread all across Australia.

If your day-to-day work involves using data from Global Navigation Satellite Systems such as GPS, you are a user of precise positioning.

Any business or organisation that uses precise positioning can register to participate in the Request for Insights. Participants will be contacted by the Positioning Australia program at Geoscience Australia within 10 days of registration.

From mid-December, participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire that will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The questionnaire will remain open until mid-February 2021.

The findings from the Request for Insights will be used by Geoscience Australia in collaboration with FrontierSI, Curtin University and Positioning Insights to evaluate industry practices, and develop a new set of standards and protocols for accessing and integrating the latest precise positioning technology.

Committed to ensuring all Australians have access to the latest technology, the Positioning Australia program wants to ensure local businesses and organisations are maximising the applications of precise positioning and gaining all the potential benefits of accurate and reliable data.

More information about the Positioning Australia program is available online.
