Woodside Energy will contribute a total of $750,000 to relief efforts that are assisting local communities impacted by the ongoing flood crisis in Western Australia’s Kimberley region.
Of Woodside’s contribution, $500,000 will be donated to the Leedal Foundation, which supports Indigenous communities in the Fitzroy Valley.
Leedal Foundation is partnering with four other key local organisations to coordinate assistance to people who have been impacted, through the provision of essential needs, including food, clothing, bedding and hygiene products.
Woodside will also make a donation of $250,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund, Western Australia’s official state emergency fund.
In addition, Woodside is supporting our employees to donate to both organisations through simple payroll deductions.
“Like all Western Australians, every Woodsider has been shocked and distressed by the devastation the floods have brought to communities in our state’s north,” said Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill.
“Woodside has always been committed to supporting and investing in the communities where we live and work, and we believe it is best to make those contributions through collaboration and partnerships with local organisations.
“In times of need like this, it’s important that we support groups like Leedal Foundation, who know what local people need to get back on their feet, both in the immediate term and in the coming months and years.
“We are also very pleased to be able to support the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund, which has been activated to help those affected by the floods.
“For more than 40 years this Fund, in conjunction with the State Government, has been providing financial assistance to Western Australians in times of suffering and personal hardship brought about by disaster or emergency.
“Our thoughts are with the families who have been impacted and we extend our thanks to the emergency services and other responders who are working to assist with the relief efforts under such difficult conditions.”
