Woodside Energy has appointed Breyden Lonnie as Executive Vice President and COO for Australia.
Lonnie has acted in the role since December 2025 and his permanent appointment comes at an important time for the energy giant as it navigates a complex series of project milestones and asset transitions across Western Australia and the Bass Strait.
Woodside CEO Liz Westcott praised the appointment, noting that Lonnie’s elevation reflects the depth of leadership talent within the company.
“Breyden brings exceptional leadership and technical capability to this role, with a deep understanding of Woodside’s Australian portfolio from an operational, project execution, commercial, and stakeholder engagement perspective,” Westcott said.
Lonnie’s track record includes a successful stint as Vice President of the North West Shelf from 2022 to 2025. During that period, he oversaw the project’s high-stakes transition into a processor of third-party gas, ensuring its continued commercial viability.
In his new role, Lonnie will oversee the company’s Scarborough Energy project toward its targeted first LNG cargo in the final quarter of 2026.
He will also supervise the assumption of operatorship for the Bass Strait assets and the completion of a major asset swap with Chevron, scheduled for the second half of this year. Additionally, he will lead the progression of the proposed Browse to North West Shelf project.
Lonnie said he was honoured to continue with Woodside.
“My focus is on ongoing safe and reliable operations and strong project execution across our high-quality Australian portfolio, delivered though our highly capable teams,” he said.
