Australian Oil Company is progressing with its plans to ramp up production across Queensland’s Surat Basin, locking in a resource review and pushing ahead with field re-activation initiatives.
The company has appointed independent specialist Energetica Consulting to deliver a resource assessment across its Surat Basin licences.
This wide-ranging review will prioritise the integration of modern airborne electromagnetic, geochemical, and 3D seismic data to high-grade fresh exploration targets.
A primary focus for Energetica will be the company’s Major Gas Field (PL 512). Updated geological mapping of the field’s Showgrounds Formation has already flagged extensive upside, pointing to new up-dip infill drilling targets near the existing Major-4 well.
The fresh data has also hinted at the possible presence of an untapped oil leg within the formation, which could significantly expand the field’s commercial dynamics if confirmed.
On the operations front, the company said execution of AOK’s Phase 1 development roadmap is progressing swiftly. At the Emu Apple oil field (PL 264), engineers are currently undertaking downhole well interventions to restore and boost output.
Following a successful condensate backwash at the Emu Apple-1 well, subsequent fluid monitoring indicates an increase in well performance. An acid wash procedure is slated for completion this week, clearing a path for a full production restart.
Concurrently, AOK has submitted its Later Development Plan (LDP) to the Queensland Department of Natural Resources to reinstate production at the Riverslea Field (PL 30).
To accelerate commercialisation once regulatory sign-off lands, the company is collecting fresh crude samples from the Riverslea-3 wellhead this week to finalise crude sales agreements.
Australian Oil Company Managing Director Kane Marshall said the dual strategy of increasing immediate production while securing third-party resource certification provides an exceptional platform for growth.
“Our strategic focus remains on enhancing production, maturing exploration upside, and securing robust resource certification for investors,” Marshall said.
