NORWAY: BlueNord ASA has announced the commencement of drilling operations on the Harald East Middle Jurassic well (HEMJ) with the successful spudding of the well by the jack-up rig Shelf Drilling Winner.
The HEMJ well is located in the Harald East area, in close proximity to the Norwegian border. In the event of a successful discovery, the gas from the well is expected to be exported through the Tyra East facilities, with potential production commencing by the end of 2024.
According to BlueNord’s estimates, the HEMJ well could yield up to 8 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) net to the company, with approximately 80 per cent of the production expected to be gas.
Miriam Lykke, Chief Operating Officer at BlueNord, expressed excitement about the commencement of drilling operations, stating: “We are excited to announce that the jackup rig Shelf Drilling Winner has successfully spudded the HEMJ well.
“We will drill through the chalk reservoir and then into the Jurassic reservoir which has very promising qualities. If successful, the expected gains from HEMJ could be significant to BlueNord, and we look forward to seeing the results later this year.”
The HEMJ well is part of BlueNord’s ongoing exploration and development efforts in the region.
The company is committed to leveraging advanced technologies and industry best practices to maximise the potential of its assets while adhering to stringent safety and environmental standards.
As drilling operations progress, BlueNord will provide further updates on the well’s progress and any significant developments.
The successful exploration and development of the HEMJ well could contribute to the company’s long-term growth and profitability, while also supporting the region’s energy security and economic development.
