Oil and gas explorer Brookside Energy Ltd. has commenced drilling operations at its Suttles pad development program within the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma, US.
The company confirmed that the Sabres 2-1-1S-3W SXH1 well has been successfully spudded, marking the first of two planned operated horizontal wells to be drilled from the multi-well pad located in Brookside’s SWISH Area of Interest (AOI).
The high-capacity Kenai Drilling Rig 18 has moved onto the location, rigged up, and is currently drilling ahead in the 17-1/2 inch surface-hole section of the Sabres well.
The Sabres well is targeting the resource-rich Sycamore Formation at an approximate vertical depth of 7,700 feet, featuring a planned 1.5-mile lateral section designed to maximise resource recovery.
Once the Sabres well is completed, Rig 18 will skid a short distance across the Suttles pad to drill the Whalers 2-1-1S-3W WXH2 well, which will target the deeper Woodford Formation from an adjacent surface location.
Brookside holds a 70 per cent working interest in both wells.
The surface production infrastructure, including the tank battery and separators, is already substantially complete on-site.
This sequencing ensures that oil and gas production can be processed and directed to sales channels immediately after drilling, completion, and flowback operations wrap up.
Brookside CEO David Prentice said the deployment represents the next step in the company’s repeatable multi-well development model.
“Spudding Sabres is another step in the disciplined development of our SWISH inventory,” Prentice said.
“From land and title, to subsurface modelling, regulatory approvals, pad construction, facilities and takeaway preparations, this has been a full-cycle team effort.
“Our job now is to execute safely, keep cycle times tight and bring these wells online efficiently.”
