Wood has secured contracts with Beach Energy and Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU) to deliver solutions to meet their emissions reduction targets.
In line with Australia’s National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act, Wood’s new projects promises to reduce emission baselines by 4.9 per cent each year leading up to 2030.
The company is focused on the applications of innovations in maintenance, operations and brownfield engineering to reduce carbon emissions at Beach Energy’s facilities across Australia and New Zealand — especially with MEPAU’s Waitsia Gas Project in Western Australia.
Wood is working on programs that will improve operations and plant reliability while optimising energy use and electrification, in accordance with these new contracts.
Executive President of Consulting at Wood said: “We are proud to play a leading role in critical decarbonisation projects for the energy industry. Projects like these are essential in ensuring energy security, providing power to Australian communities while at the same time minimising emissions and enabling energy transition in the Asia Pacific region.
“Wood has extensive experience providing digital and decarbonisation solutions for oil and natural gas facilities. Our track record and deep domain expertise enables us to provide accurate emissions baselines and data-driven reduction of carbon intensity, delivering maximum value and impact for our clients.”
The result of these programs will be a clear portfolio of projects set to achieve key emissions reduction targets over the next seven years.
The company has already applied its exclusive decarbonisation SCORE approach for other clients, generating roadmaps that allow 15 to 20 per cent reductions in Scope 1 and 2 carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.
In Australia, Wood has more than 2,000 employees that provide engineering and advisory services to customers in the energy and materials sectors.
This includes oil and gas, carbon capture, hydrogen, minerals and metals, and chemicals, as well as minerals and hydrogen industries.
