Miros has unveiled its latest innovation: the Oil Spill Detection (OSD) Monitoring application integrated into Miros Cloud.
This cutting-edge solution builds upon Miros’ trusted OSD system, introducing unprecedented levels of real-time visibility, centralised collaboration, and full accountability for offshore operators.
It sets a new industry standard for proactive and transparent oil spill management.
The OSD Monitoring application is designed to address the critical need for rapid response to oil spills, empowering users to monitor, track, and react faster than ever before.
By leveraging a cloud-based platform, alarms and data are continuously tracked across multiple sites and securely shared among offshore units, onshore control rooms, and remote stakeholders.
This centralised system enhances communication and collaboration, enabling dynamic decision-making in real time.
A key feature of the system is its emphasis on accountability and compliance.
Every alarm event is automatically logged with user identification attached to each action, creating a tamper-proof audit trail that ensures unbiased documentation ready for regulatory review.
By eliminating manual paperwork and reducing human error, companies can confidently meet compliance requirements while minimising liability risks.
Aurelia Paraschiv, Product Manager for cloud applications at Miros, highlighted the transformative impact of the new application, stating: “With OSD Monitoring, we are redefining how oil spill detection is managed — bridging the gap between fast detection, effective collaboration, and full traceability.
“By offering tamper-proof data, secure information sharing, and real-time insights via the cloud, we give our customers the tools they need to make informed, compliant, and efficient decisions every time.”
The application also integrates sea state forecast data into its collaborative environment and supports flexible data integration with other systems.
Encrypted offshore-to-onshore data transmission guarantees the secure handling of sensitive information.
This ensures that decision-makers always have access to accurate data, whether in remote control rooms or when coordinating field operations.
Additionally, the automated approach reduces false alarms and unnecessary dispatches, optimising resources while cutting operational costs.
Miros CEO Marius Five Aarset highlighted the broader implications of this innovation, stating: “In today’s fast-paced and regulated environment, organisations need more than just detection — they need actionable, reliable, and transparent data.
“OSD Monitoring not only accelerates spill detection and response but also ensures every stakeholder has a clear view of events as they unfold in real time.
“It’s about turning information into action while keeping compliance, accountability, and cost-efficiency at the forefront.”
Miros will showcase the OSD Monitoring application at InterSPILL 2025 in London from April 8 – 10 at stand D57.
Visitors can explore how this groundbreaking solution sets new benchmarks for real-time collaboration in spill response while enhancing safety and operational efficiency across offshore industries.
