Woodside Energy has announced the recipients of its Anniversary Grants program, awarding up to $100,000 each to 10 community and not-for-profit organisations in the City of Karratha.
The grants, totalling approximately $1 million, aim to support programs and activities that deliver positive local outcomes.
The initiative marks Woodside’s 70th anniversary as an Australian company and celebrates four decades of operations in Karratha.
Woodside Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Australia Liz Westcott emphasised the company’s commitment to the region, stating: “Karratha is where our Western Australia story began and we understand that being a part of the community is centred on developing strong relationships and making meaningful contributions.”
The Anniversary Grants will fund a diverse range of community projects:
- St John Ambulance: New ambulances and lifesaving equipment for Karratha, Roebourne, and Wickham operations
- Yaandina Community Services: Air-conditioning installation in Roebourne residential detoxification facility
- Yinjaa-Barni Art: Upgrades to Roebourne art studio

This latest initiative adds to Woodside’s long-standing support for the Karratha community.
Since commencing operations in 1984, Woodside and its joint venture partners have invested more than $300 million in infrastructure, events, and community development programs in the City of Karratha.
In 2022, the company committed to spending up to $65 million over five years on social investment initiatives across its North West host communities.
The Anniversary Grants program is supported by Woodside and its joint venture partners in the North West Shelf Project and the Scarborough Energy Project’s Pluto Train 2.
It represents a significant boost to local organisations working to address community needs and enhance the quality of life in the Karratha region.
