Jemena reverses pipeline to enhance Victoria’s gas supply

Energy infrastructure company, Jemena, is planning to reverse the 797-kilometre Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP) — potentially sending up to 300 TJ/d of gas south from New South Wales into Victoria. The EGP, commissioned in 2000, traditionally brought gas from Bass Strait to the New South Wales and Sydney market, supplying over 70 per cent of gas across New South Wales at times. The reversal project aims to make the EGP bi-directional, allowing it to deliver 200TJ/d south from Port Kembla Energy Terminal (PKET) — owned by Squadron Energy — by Winter 2026. With PKET over 90 per cent complete, it is Austr... more

Strike signs Walyering gas transportation agreement with APA

Strike has signed a two-year gas transportation agreement (GTA) with APA Group Pty Ltd, enabling the delivery of 10 TJ/d into the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) from the Walyering gas processing facility. This will be facilitated through a new inter-pipeline connection at Mondarra, currently under construction and commissioned by APA. This infrastructure is expected to be operational by late 2024. This agreement provides Strike access to the significantly larger and more active market connected to the DBNGP, where approximately 95 per cent of daily gas in Western Australia is sold and cons... more

Chevron launches CCS project in San Joaquin Valley

Chevron U.S.A. Inc., through its Chevron New Energies division, is launching a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project aimed at reducing the carbon intensity of its operations in San Joaquin Valley, California. Chevron aims to reduce its carbon intensity - the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted per unit of energy produced - by installing CO2 post-combustion capture equipment, capturing the CO2 and then storing it underground. The CCS initiative would begin at Chevron’s Kern River Eastridge cogeneration plant in Kern County, California. “At Chevron, we believe the future of energy is lower... more

bp and Linde announce plan for major CCS project in Texas Gulf Coast

bp and Linde have announced plans for a major carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Texas that will enable low carbon hydrogen production at Linde’s existing facilities. The development will also support the storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from other industrial facilities. Upon completion, the project will capture and store CO2 from Linde’s hydrogen production facilities in the greater Houston area – and potentially from its other Texas facilities – to produce low carbon hydrogen for the region. The low carbon hydrogen will be sold to customers along Linde’s hydrogen pipeline network ... more
