Energy infrastructure company, Jemena, is planning to reverse the 797-kilometre Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP) — potentially sending up to 300 TJ/d of gas south from New South Wales into Victoria. The EGP, commissioned in 2000, traditionally brought gas from Bass Strait to the New South Wales and Sydney market, supplying over 70 per cent of gas across New South Wales at times. The Australian Federal Court has ruled in favour of Santos in the case of Munkara v Santos NA Barossa Pty Ltd — dismissing the application and discharging the injunction that prevented pipelay activities south of the kilometre 86 (KP86) point along the Barossa Gas Export Pipeline. Petrobras and Equinor have successfully started production from the first two wells of the increased oil recovery (IOR) project at Roncador. This is an important milestone in the development of the field, increasing recovery rates, adding valuable production and demonstrating the potential to leverage new technology.
